Formats and Cutting/Trimming
Printing materials usually get their final format in a paper cutter. Sometimes it may happen that images, colour fields or colour routes reach up to the edge of the format. For this purpose it is necessary to prepare the printing pattern and file as from the very beginning in such a way that they are only a few millimetres bigger than the finished printing product. It is usual to add to each format on all sides 2 millimetres for so called „trimming“. The 2 mm serve as a clearance (space) while trimming the printing sheet and they prevent development of undesirable white edges of the printing product. We recommend for the lines and letters not to be placed too near the edge.
